Environmental
Division (ED)
Background
The Environmental Division of
National Building Research Organisation (NBRO)
was established in January 1986 with a view to provide research &
technical assistance to the Urban Development Authority to control
Urban Environmental Pollution.
Today the division has expanded its activities in terms of research
and consultancy in a broader spectrum to address a wide range of
issues related to environmental protection and management with
special reference to Urban Development.
Our Services are offered in the from of consultancy in
Environmental Planning Management,
Assessments and
Quality
Monitoring and Modeling. A multi disciplinary team of professionally
qualified scientists are actively engaged in these areas. A series
of research projects too have been designed specially to provide the necessary
technical support for the above projects.
The division has a fully equipped modern laboratory, accredited by the
Central Environmental Authority with facilities to monitor a wide
range of environmental parameters in
water,
wastewater,
contaminated soils and sediments,
air and noise. The in-house computer
system with latest software packages is used in data analysis, evaluation,
modeling and for reporting.
