National Building Research Organisation ( NBRO ) was born in 1984 which now ranks among the renowned Research and Development Institute in Sri Lanka.

The prime aim of the NBRO is to spread and promote culture of disaster prevention and safety through innovation in disaster education, research and training of human resources at all levels and by rendering highly specialized professional services at the cutting edge of science and technology.

Disasters wipe out developmental gains achieved over decades. Development can not be sustained unless the mitigation measures - step to reduce our vulnerabilities to disaster implemented in times.
It is my sincere wish to emerge of NBRO as a ray of hope.
