12th November 2009 is a momentous and a very important occasion in the history of NBRO. The NBRO was established in 1984, and now have reached the age of 25 years. On 12th November, 2009 NBRO celebrates her Silver Jubilee at Hotel Hilton under the patronage of Hon. Mahinda Samarasinghe, the Minister of Disaster Management and Human Rights. NBRO is not an organization setup up her excellence only at the cutting edge of Research and Development but also serve the nation by providing consultancy services in different fields of disciplines to a wide range of customers.

Designing of concrete mixes for specific applications/ client’s requirements
Compliance testing of cement blocks and bricks, building lime, Portland/ masonry cement, structural steel, wire stand, high tensile steel wires and steel reinforcement bars
Quality assessment and evaluation of concrete aggregates based on standard tests (includes strength sizes and shapes, moisture content, water absorption, resistance to abrasion and fragmentation, degree of degradation, density and content of impurities)
Testing of clay bricks, roof an floor tiles, cement / concrete products such as paving stone and slabs, kerbs, Hume pipes etc.
Testing of miscellaneous items such as coating thickness of steel sheets and wires, concrete/ iron/ cast iron/ manhole cover and frames
