SERC & PM Division was established in 1986 (Renamed as PMD) to foster, promote and sustain Research and consultancy work and provide services to the construction sector, towards aiming qualitative and quantitative improvements, thereby achieve economical gains.
In general, this division maintains an efficient, effective and proficient core of full time professional and technical staff supported by an extensive panel of advisers. We are featuring and inborn understanding of the resources, constrains and aspirations in Sri Lanka.
The technical expertise combined with experience and back ground of professional staff offer, a unique combination of talent eminently suited to the requirements of each assign project ensuring high degree of the performance for assigned job of work.
The composition of our professional and technical staff is:
Engineers , Architect, Quantity Surveyors, Draughtsmen, Technical Officers, and Supporting staff.
The evaluation of the previous consultancy projects completed and in progress by us reveals that they have been carried out/carrying out in successful manner.
The division expects to support in future to the construction sector in the following manner.
Established a centre, to provide multi-sector consultation services to intensify business of engineering service organizations and to perform civil, electrical, mechanical , marine engineering and architectural services which shall includes the following:
(a) Designing construction and management of construction project of whatsoever kind or nature as a turn key assignment;
(b) Undertake investigation feasibility evaluations implementations and submit reports thereon;
(c) Confer with clients inspect sites projects and tender advisory services;
(d) Prepare preliminary and detailed study design and cost estimates;
(e) Act as arbitrators in related activities;
(f) Do all or any of the above things in any part of the world as principals agents contractors trustees or otherwise and either by or through agents, sub contractors trustees, corporations or otherwise and along or in conjunction with others;
The PMD, is one of the leading and experienced division in the NBRO to intensify business of service organizations and to promote civil, electrical, mechanical engineering and architectural services. The divisions avails itself to service government, non-state and private sector organization.
OBJECTIVES OF THE DIVISION
This division has been established to achieve three major objectives in the construction sector:
- Provide consultancy for construction projects
- Project management
- Development of current design and construction practice to suit local conditions specially in the disaster prone areas such as landslides, cyclone, flood affected areas.
