Cutting failure at Kesbewa, Samanalagiri Uyana

A cutting failure has been reported at Samanalagiri Uyana on 13th September, 2017 due to heavy rainfall resulted from prevailing weather. A local road to five houses was blocked and a boundary wall of a nearby house has been damaged. The recently constructed boundary wall in the land at top of the cutting failure location is now hanging and in danger of falling down at any time. Hence, clearing of the road has been delayed until the unstable parts of the suspended concrete wall is removed. A team of NBRO scientists visited the site and recommendations have been given.
