 Norwegian Ambassador’s visit to Landslide Mitigation Sites in Sri Lanka

His Excellancy Thorbjorn Gaustadsaether the Norwegian Ambassador to Sri Lanka visited  Punchi Raththota landslide mitigation site, Matale on 26th September 2017 for which Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) provided technical assistance. Dr. Rajinder Bhasin, Technical Expert of the NGI and NBRO officers, Dr. H.A.G. Jayatissa, Dr. Pathmakumara, Mr. C. Moremada and Mr. N.I.C. Peris accompanied the ambessador in the visit.

The teamconducted an activity briefing before the site visit. During the visit, a demonstration using Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) system and a drone survey were conducted at the site. Further the ambassador was informed about the functioning of automated rain gauge network and about mitigation of the landslide.
