Equipment handing over ceremony by Norwegian Geotechnical Institute to NBRO 

Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) handed over landslide early warning equipment and NGI tailor made high frequency antenna under the collaboration on technical co-operation for landslide mitigation. Equipment handing over ceremony was held on 6th October 2017 at Ministry of Disaster Management with the participation of officials from Norwegian Embassy, NGI, Ministry of Disaster Management and NBRO. The equipment were ceremonially handed over to the Minister of Disaster Management by the Norwegian Ambassador His Excellancy Thorbjorn Gaustadsaether.

The following equipment were donated to NBRO by NGI.

  • Two sets of landslide early warning equipment including following components:

-          GSM logging and Alarm system which is capable of sending text alarms by SMS to 10 mobiles once the rainfall thresholds are exceeded (a data logging system)

-          Tipping Bucket Rain Gauges

-          Solar charge modules

-          Soil moisture sensor probes for correlating the soil moisture contents with the rainfall, which will help to know about the properties of soil and its behavior during rainfall

  • “NGI tailor made high frequency antenna" for the use with Ground Penetrating Radar which is useful for detecting shallow distance objects such as reinforcement in buildings, bridges and utility services.

 

Equipment handing over ceremony held at Ministry of Disaster Management
