During the WFH period, there are several activities are being implemented to make this period a meaningful for everyone and, conducting capacity building programs are one area that could easily be focused and concern by NBRO.

One program was successfully conducted on 10th April 2020 on “Scientific Paper Writing”. As employees of a research organization, this is one area to be expertise by all.

The session was hosted by Prof. Dilanthi Amaratunga, Professor of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, Head, Global Disaster Resilience Centre, University of Huddersfield, UK, who is a renowned author in global context and, her expertise that laise with the interest of NBRO addended an advantage.

The session was conducted as an online session using Zoom video communication platform and 96 executive grade employees of the NBRO, who work at different capacities joined with this session including the Director General.

Professor Amaratunga conducted the session emphasizing key stages of the scientific paper writing process and sharing her own experiences with participants. Some of key topics that discussed were structuring a scientific paper, literature review and common mistakes, research methods, results and discussion, importance of publishing a paper, process of peer review and some practical tips.

The session was concluded successfully and Eng. (Dr.) Asiri Karunawardena, Director General of NBRO paid his gratitude to professor Amaratunga for hosting such a valuable session for the NBRO staff, especially in this difficult time.
