Counterpart Training under the JICA Project for Capacity Strengthening on Development of Non-structural Measures for Landslide Risk Reduction in Sri Lanka (PROJECT-SABO) successfully completed on July 28, 2022. This Second Counterpart Training undergone for 18 days from July 11, 2022 to July 28, 2022. Total 10 officers participated for this training and it was consisted of 03 members from pilot Local Authorities (Badulla, Bulathkohupitiya and Kotapola), 01 Officer from Urban Development Authority and 06 Officers from National Building Research Oragnisation.

This is the first training program physically to Japan after 2 years of blank period due to COVID-19 pandemic. Participants had an opportunity to visit landslide disaster control facilities and steep areas in Fujinomiya-City / Shizuoka, Yokosuka-City / Kanagawa, and Tomioka-City / Gunma to experience and learn how land regulations, structural and non-structural measures are being planned and implemented for disaster risk reduction with the collaboration of different levels of the governance. Based on the experiences gained through the training program, trainees presented their action plan about how they would like to practically apply learnings for landslide risk management in Sri Lanka.
